KUWAIT CITY, Sept 12: A number of Kuwaiti columnists have slammed Washington’s policies, particularly on the Palestinian issue, and have called on the US to stop Israel from committing atrocities against Palestinians.
Mohammad Mussad Al Saleh in his column said “had the events of Sept 11 occurred in a country other that the United States, the world would hardly have paid much attention to them.”
He spoke against US policies on the Palestinian issue and said Israel had killed more than 3,000 Palestinians during the last year, but the United States had done nothing to stop Israeli premier Ariel Sharon.
He said the world had not raised voice against the Israeli terror and the US had even given a green signal to the jewish state to carry on the killing of Palestinians.
Saleh said Muslims, especially Arabs, had suffered greatly after the sept 11 events as most governments had surrendered whatever sovereignty they had, leaving Washington to dictate terms.
Another columnist, Dr Ismail Al Shatti, laments that the US is using the September tragedy for its vested interests.
He said the US administration branded the attacks as a war against America and used it as groundwork to wage war instead of legal action.
Writer Jassem al Fuhaid termed the events of Sept 11 a point at which the West and the Muslim world had entered into a confrontation.
Jassem Boodai says his opinion said that Sept 11 has weaken the Palestinian struggle for independent homeland.
He said the worst aspect of the Sept 11, was that the Palestinian cause was transformed into an issue of terrorists who were involved in suicide operations against the Israel and terrorist Sharon was transformed into a hero.
