KARACHI, Sept 12: Five ships including a car carrier Pacific Highway carrying 118 units are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Friday, according to KPT sources.

Berthing activity at the wharves picked up thanks to steady arrivals of foreign flag vessels. All the new arrivals including Lanka Mahapola, Al-Mariyah, Kota Tegap, Winco Feeder to unload and load containers, CEC Courage, to offload general cargo and Lombardia to unload crude oil were berthed after the sailing of as many.

The ships, which departed included Sima Kija, APL Portugal, Kota Tegap, Lanka Mahapola, CEC Courage and Bow Cedar, while Al-Mariyah, Ulysses, Clippe, MOL Sincerity and Lombardia are due to sail out on Friday.

Berth occupancy at the oil piers fell to 33 per cent, while rose to 50 per cent at the dry wharves.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was active where a total tonnage of 89,673 tons comprising 12,293 tons of export cargo and 77,380 tons of import cargo was handled.

The following ships are due on Friday: Babur Kaptaon to load molasses, Nur Al-Jubail, to offload chemicals, Kota Indah and Global Paramount to unload and load containers and Pacific Highway to offload vehicles.

KARACHI, Sept 12: A container ship, Msc Serena was allotted berth at Qasim International Containers Terminal during the last 24 hours, says a PQA press release on Thursday. Meanwhile, another ship Nur Al Jubail also arrived at the outer anchorage.

Berth occupancy remained active as seven ships were at the wharves loading/discharging wheat, containers, general cargo, furnace oil and iron ore.

Some 33,215 tons of cargo comprising 17,827 tons of import and 15,388 tons of export tonnage, inclusive of cargo carried in 870 containers (Teus), was handled.

Four ships, City of Edin Burgh, Safmarine Athi, Astro Pegasus and Hyderabad sailed out while Msc Serena was due to leave.

Three ships Pearl of Jubail Ali, Nur Al Jubail and Francisca Schulte were expected to take berths at Marginal Wharf and QICT on Thursday.
