Top teams to compete in ranking tourney

LAHORE, Sept 7: More than 150 players will take part in different categories of the All-Pakistan Ranking badminton tournament to be held at the PHA Sports Complex, Samanabad from Sept 9 to 15.

The tournament which carries a cash prize of a total of Rs 50,000 will be contested in the men’s and ladies singles, doubles and mixed doubles, veterans’ doubles and team categories.

PTCL, Railways, ABL, PMAD, PIA, NBP, Fata, WBA, New Khan and Wapda have confirmed their participation.

There will be 64 draws for men’s singles and 32 for men’s doubles to be announced Sunday.

Winner of the men’s singles will get Rs 15,000 and runners-up Rs 10,000.

Men’s doubles winner will pocket Rs 10,000 and runners-up Rs 8,000. Ladies singles winner will receive Rs 8000 and runners-up Rs 6000.

Ladies doubles’ winner will be honoured with cash prize of Rs 6000 and runners-up Rs 4000.

Mixed doubles’ winner will get a cash prize of Rs 6000 while runners-up Rs 4000. Veteran’s doubles winner will receive Rs 3000 and runners-up Rs 2000. Winners of team’s event will get trophies.

The Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF) headed by Asad Mohib is organising the tournament.
