Shakeel and Zahid triumph

LAHORE, Sep 6: Wapda’s Muhammad Shakeel Qasim and Zahid Rahi were declared joint winners of the 15 kilometre Independence Day road race organised by Pakistan Cycling Federation Friday.

In a competition of 20 riders from Railways, Punjab and Wapda, both clocked 24m, 45.48 sec.

Fifty yards away to the finish line Shakeel and Qasim overcome strong challenge from, Muhammad Zahid Rahi, Muhammad Ashraf,Muhammad Imran and Shamshir Ali and left them behind with a display of forceful sprints.

The event proved Wapda’s dominance as the third and fourth places were also won by their cyclists Muhammad Imran and Shamshir Ali.

National champion Haroon Rashid was the chief guest on the occasion and gave away the prizes to the winners.—APP
