KARACHI, Sept 6: The Pakistan People’s Party on Friday claimed that despite alleged pre-poll rigging the party would win 80 per cent of the National and provincial assemblies seats in Sindh in the Oct 10 general elections.

PPP provincial president Nisar Khuhro in a statement said the party would again emerge victorious in the elections. “We are preparing counter-strategy against pre-poll rigging plan of the government,” he added.

He said that the PPP in cooperation with other parties in the Alliance for Restoration of Democracy (ARD) would win majority of provincial seats in Sindh.

EJAZ CRITICIZED: A PPP spokesman has taken strong exception to an allegation levelled by PML (Z) chief Ejazul Haq against PPP chairperson, claiming that he (Ejaz) had a cassette of conversation between Ms Bhutto and Nawaz Sharif in which they had reportedly planned subversive activity in the country.

The PPP, in a statement issued here on Friday, dismissed the allegation as baseless, aimed at only securing coverage in the press by using Ms Bhutto’s name.

The statement said that for seeking publicity Ejazul Haq had earlier claimed that Ms Bhutto did not possess a graduate degree and had promised to produce evidence in this respect.

The statement said Ejazul Haq was using the name of PPP chairperson for his political mileage. —APP
