PESHAWAR, Sept 5: The Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA) expressed concern on Thursday over the attitude of varsity administration towards teachers and violation of rules and regulations.
In a press release issued here PUTA president Nasir Ali Khan said the PU administration had made certain decisions which were leading to total chaos. “PU Syndicate’s decision to count out study leave towards experience is a blow to those who have such experience,” he said.
The PUTA president alleged that the university had advertised and held selection boards of the posts of associate and professors by relaxing even the PhD condition. Moreover the administration had increased the M.Phil/PhD tuition fee. Coupled with withdrawal of the service experience acquired during M.Phil/ PhD, the enhanced fee would severely handicap those wishing to improve qualification.
He also lamented the re-imposition of tuition fee for university employees’children studying at its three schools. “The case of the construction of 20 new “F” type houses seems to have met a similar fate. PUTA had submitted modified feasibility and designs in accordance with the VC’s wish but then were turned down,” Nasir alleged.
He said the VC then required that the plans should be presented through the director of works, who submitted the detailed feasibility along with the designs to the treasurer. “One can imagine the fate of this scheme,” the maintained.

Avoiding to comment on relaxation of Ph.D conditions for the post of associates and professors, Javed said that the administration wanted to advertise the vacant post of teachers twice in a year. “We cannot advertise the post of single vacancy on the wishes of any teacher,” he remarked.
Commenting on raise in the tuition fees for M.Phil and Ph.D courses, he said the administration was charging Rs 6000 for one semester. “This fee is still very little against the expenditure on the courses. And every research student can afford this fee,” he opined.
