PESHAWAR, Sept 2: Hundreds of tribal members of the bus and truck owners’ association blocked Peshawar-Bara Road for two hours on Monday to protest against the killing of a bus cleaner.

About 400 tribesmen, who had come from different parts of Khyber Agency, assembled in front of the office of the agency’s political administration in the cantonment area and chanted slogans against the Kurram militia.

Later, leaders of the association called on Khyber Agency Political Agent Dr Mohammad Fida Wazir and Assistant Political Agent Syed Jamalud Din Shah, and demanded that killers of bus cleaner Adam Khan be arrested immediately.

They warned that if the culprits were not arrested in two days, they would march towards Islamabad to lodge their protest.

When the officials assured them that the alleged killers would be arrested soon, the transporters ended their protest.

On Saturday night, Adam Khan was shot dead allegedly by the Kurram militia when the bus driver was trying to flee the Government High School, Alam Gudar, where the militia force had impounded several public vehicles for using them in the ongoing operation against outlaws in Bara, Khyber Agency.
