KARACHI, Sept 2: Sindh Governor Mohmmadmian Soomro on Monday vowed to foil the designs of all those elements who were giving a strike call in the province, in accordance with the law.

“Such misdemeanour on their part amounts to destabilizing the prevailing law and order situation in the province, which may also affect large segments of the population,” he said, while responding to newsmens’ queries here today after inaugurating a three day anti-polio campaign at a local hotel organized by the Extended Programme for Immunization (EPI), Sindh health department.

In response to another question about the holding of a train march by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, he made it clear that railway platforms or airports are not places for the realization of political objectives, as it may cause hardships to passengers and in view of the same, the government would not allow this to proceed.

About the recent announcement by the National Commission Award (NFC), wherein the 27 year old formula of distribution of resources on a population basis was observed, he opined that this should be dispensed with in accordance with the ‘98 census, instead of pursuing the old 1981 census formula.

However, since the decision is being made in line with democratic traditions, and owing to the same, (the) majority would always prevail,” he added.
