Rainwater could not be cleared in areas like Laxmi Chowk, New Anarkali’s Aibak Road and Akhbar Market till in the evening.
Many localities suffered power breakdowns during the rain, causing inconvenience to the people.
Rain started at around 1.30pm after dark clouds suddenly covered the sky. It was heavy in the central parts of the city.
According to the Met office, the rain was caused by a cell developed over Lahore and other adjoining areas and the moisture from the Arabian Sea.
It reported light rain in Sialkot, Astore, Skardu, Islamabad, Gilgit, Risalpur, Hyderabad and Karachi.
It has forecast more light rain in upper Punjab and the NWFP and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperature in Lahore was 35.1 degrees C and the minimum 26.8 degrees C with 85 per cent humidity in the morning and 67 per cent in the afternoon.
