LAHORE, Aug 26: Punjab Law Minister Rana Ijaz Ahmad has said no complaint has so far been received regarding election arrangements.
Talking to Dawn after a reception hosted for Canadian political counsellor and deputy head of mission Bryan E. Burton here on Monday, he said the government would also take suo motu action if any complaint regarding holding of the elections appeared in the press.
He said the European Mission and other observers are also watching the arrangements for the polls.
He said Mr Burton has also met the Punjab chief secretary, the IGP and ARD chairman Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan and discussed the holding of the elections.
Mr Burton said he supported free and fair elections in the country.
About politicians’ complaints regarding pre-poll rigging, he avoided giving any direct answer to the question saying he was new here and looking at the arrangements.
Punjab law and information secretaries and ARD leader Munir Ahmad Khan were also present on the occasion. —Reporter
