ISLAMABAD, Aug 25: The Minister for Information and Media Development, Nisar Memon, on Sunday said that Oct 10 will b a day of true accountability when masses will decide whether corrupt elements should be brought back to the country or not.

Speaking in a PTV programme, the minister said President Musharraf decided to make minimum amendments after interacting with politicians and other professionals.

He said that the ongoing process of accountability is across the board and government has been looking into cases of politicians, bureaucrats, businessmen and retired personnel of the armed forces.

Referring to sectarianism, the minister said the government has succeeded in controlling the menace of fanaticism despite internal pressures, he added.

The problem of extremism was plaguing the country for the last many years, he said adding terrorism is a major challenge facing the country.

The law enforcement agencies were also successful in hunting down the culprits involved in the terrorist attacks in Karachi, Murree and Taxila.

He assured that Pakistan will not allow anybody to carry out terrorist activities from its soil against any other country.

He said that after Sept 11, US and many European countries went into recession and this fallout also affected many other countries including Pakistan.—APP
