Asif and Tauqeer put KESC in last 8

KARACHI, Aug 24: Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) beat Pakistan Telecommunication Corporation Limited (PTCL) by four wickets in the 11th Hinopak Trophy KCCA Inter-firms league cricket championship at UBL Sports Complex Ground Friday .

KESC secured a place in the quarterfinal after becoming group champions from pool “A”.

Wackenhut Security which finished second in the pool also made the quarterfinal.

Batting first, PTCL were bowled out for 117 in 35.4 overs, Waseem Ahmed hit 32. Left arm spinner Asifuddin Ghori grabbed four wickets for 13 runs. Asadullah Semeri took two for 21.

In reply KESC reached the target in 27th over for the loss of six wickets, scoring 120 for six. Mansoor Khan (29), Asif Ghauri (26) showed batting form. Tauqeer Khan claimed three wickets for 21 runs.

In the second match Dewan Sugar Mills (DSM) beat Central Police (CP) by eight wickets at Agha Khan Gymkhana Ground.

CP scored 160 for nine in 40 overs. Nadeem Rao made an unbeaten 35. Waseem (27), Nadeem Akhtar (24) and M.Anwar 24 also batted well. Leg Spinner Mansoor Ahmed captured five wickets for 34 runs. Abdul Hafeez got grabbed three for 33.

DSM in reply scored 163 for 2 in 38.3 overs thanks to brilliant 91 by opener Asif Zakir which included seven hits the fence.
