ISLAMABAD, Aug 24: Pakistan on Saturday lodged a strong protest with India over the unprovoked attack on its post in Northern Kashmir and asked New Delhi to desist from such “provocations” in the future.
The acting high commissioner of India in Islamabad was summoned to the foreign office to strongly protest the attack by the Indian army and the air force on Pakistan army’s positions across LoC in the Gultari sector during the night of Aug 22-23.
While condemning the attack including the unprecedented use of Indian Air Force, the Indian government’s attention was drawn to the dangers inherent in such acts of belligerence.
According to a statement from the foreign office, the Indian government was advised to desist from such provocations in the future.
A similar protest was lodged with the Indian authorities by the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.
DG-ISPR Major-General Rashid Qureshi, during a news conference in Islamabad on Friday termed the use of Indian force in the attack as “highly escalatory”.
The vigilant Pakistan army observing the enemy engaged them causing very heavy causalities to the Indians. Pakistan army suffered no damage.
