PESHAWAR, Aug 24: The Awami National Party (ANP) has fielded candidates on 16 National Assembly and 49 provincial assembly seats from different parts of the province.

Party President Asfandyar Wali Khan would contest for NA-7 (Charsadda-I) whereas his brother Sangeen Wali Khan has been nominated for contesting polls on two provincial assembly seats from Charsadda — PF-18(Charsadda-II) and PF-21(Charsadda-V).

Sangeen Wali has been fielded to fight the elections from the Pukhtoon nationalist force’s stronghold, Charsadda, after his mother, Begum Nasim Khan, the provincial president of the ANP, was rendered ineligible because of the graduation condition.

Another scion of the Wali family, Amir Haider Hoti, son of Azam Hoti, would make debut to the election politics as he has been nominated to fight the elections from PF-23 and PF-28 — two constituencies of Mardan.

The 16 national assembly seats on which the ANP has fielded candidates are: NA-1, NA-4 to NA-8, NA-11 to NA-16, NA-28, NA-31, NA-34, NA-35, NA-40, NA-43, NA-46 and NA-47.

Usman Bilour, the younger son of ANP leader Bashir Bilour, is in the arena for NA-1(Peshawar-I). The younger Bilour got the chance because of the disqualification of Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour due to the graduation condition.

Whereas, his father Bashir Bilour would contest for PF-3 (Peshawar-III).

Due to the graduation condition, ANP, like other political parties, has to introduce several new faces and a majority of the candidates nominated for the National Assembly seats would contest the elections for the first time.

The same is the case with the provincial assembly for which, the ANP has fielded several new faces. Among the old members of the provincial assembly fielded once more for the coming elections are: Haji Mohammed Adeel from Peshawar, Baz Mohammed Khattak from Bannu, Farid Toofan from Karak and Hidayatullah Chamkani from Peshawar.

The provincial assembly seats on which the ANP is intending to contest the elections are: PF-3, PF-5, PF-6, PF-8, PF-10 to PF-12, PF-14 to PF-23, PF-25, PF-27, PF-28, PF-31 to PF- 43, PF-46, PF-58, PF-60, PF-65, PF-69 to PF-71, PF-73, PF-77 to PF-79, PF-87, PF-88, PF-95, PF-98 and PF-99.
