KARACHI, Aug 23: A fluent 78 by left-handed opener Agha Sabir powered Regional Academy Karachi to crush Regional Academy Muridke by eight wickets in the 50-over match played at National Stadium Friday.

Sabir who plays for Pakistan Customs hammered ten boundaries and a six in his 108-ball innings.

Having bowled out the visitors for 194 in 49.4 overs the Karachi boys reeled off the required runs in 41.4 overs to emerge easy winners.

When Muridke batted pacer Sharif Asadullah (3-31) and spinners Irfanuddin (2-43) and Azam Hussain (2-38) made the task of run scoring difficult for the opposing batsmen.

None of the Muridke batsmen managed to contribute significantly. Only Khaqan Arsal (33), Zulfiqar Haider (32) and tailender Nadeem Javed (27 n.o.) were the only batsmen able to bat with some degree of confidence against Karachi bowlers. With not a big target to chase the Karachi openers Saqib Zia (37) and Agha Sabir (78) put on 121 for the opening wicket and that virtually sealed the fate of the match.
