LAHORE, Aug 21: Chairman Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Lt. Gen. Tauqir Zia Wednesday showed his dissatisfaction over the team management declaring the defeat in Morocco was due to lack of game plan and lapse of concentration by the batsmen.
He said coach, analyst and psychiatric of the team would have trained the players to give their hundred percent but unfortunately they failed in Tangiers.
“ The player are very experienced. They don’t need basic coaching at this stage. They have beaten world champion Australia recently which shows their abilities but there was no game plan in Morocco and the players showed carelessness”, Tauqir added.
He said captain Waqar Younis was showing consistent performance and handling the team well but was conceding so many runs which was not satisfactory.
To a question regarding any changes in the team he said it was not good to make changes after defeat in one series.
He said resolution of Asian Cricket Council (ACC) against teams not visiting Pakistan was a deterrent to be used properly which needs close relationship of Pak-Indian cricket boards.
Tauqir claimed cooperation between the two boards succeeded in the past to get Sunil Gavaskar a key post in ICC, received funds from the game’s ruling body and compelled New Zealand to visit Pakistan.—PPI
