Latafat Ali Siddiqui adds from Montreal: America’s Jeff Meckstroth added another feather to his cap when he won the Mixed Pairs event Tuesday night.

Playing in partnership with Becky Rogers, Meckstroth showed his talent and skill to carve out impressive win that created a new record.

Already a winner of the Bermuda Bowl, the Olympiad and the World Pairs he has now added a fourth different title, making him the first to achieve the Bridge equivalent of golf’s ‘Impregnable Quadrilateral.’ (The unique achievement of Bobby Jones who won the Open and Amateur Championships of GreatBritain and the USA in the same year.)

The silver medal went to France’s Babette Hugon and Jean Jacques Palau who went into the final session with a healthy lead that was swept away by the 69.99% score posted by the American combination.

Another pair Jens and Sabine Auken of Denmark recorded a tremendous score in the final session, enough to move them right through the field to secure the remaining place on the podium.

The pair to finish fourth was Beth Palmer and Steve Robinson of the USA. Meanwhile, championships two other major events Power Rosenblum and McConnell Cup got under way Tuesday.

Of these events which are being contested on Round Robin league basis, the top performance came in the Power Rosenblum Cup where the French team led by Frank Multon scored three maximums to be the only team in either contest with a 100% record.

It will come as no surprise that the next best record in the Power Rosenblum belongs to Italy’s team Lavazza, who have scored 71VP.

In the McConnell Cup, where only two matches have so far been completed, the English squad headed by Dhondy dropped only two points in going to the top of their group.
