ISLAMABAD, Aug 20: President Tameer-i-Pakistan, Lt-Gen Faiz Ali Chisti (retired) has demanded a public apology from the chairman Pakistan Television Corporation (PTV) for allegedly providing wrong information in Khabarnama on the allotment of election symbol.
In a legal notice served through his counsel Mohammad Sharif advocate, Gen Chisti has alleged that the PTV in its Khabarnama of August 19, 2002, wrongly mentioned and displayed the election symbol as being allotted to Tameer-i-Watan Party instead of Tameer-i-Pakistan party.
Gen Chisti in his legal notice alleged that wrong information was provided to the people with malafide intentions and ulterior motives.
The legal notice, the copy of which has also been submitted to the chief election commission, stated that the wrong projection had adversely affected the image and reputation of the political party causing irreparable damage to the party both at the national and international level.
The legal notice requires the PTV management to tender a public and written apology within three days otherwise a damage suit of Rs50 million will be filed against it.
