LARKANA, Aug 18: The councillors of union council 9, Larkana city, demanded the government to initiate an inquiry regarding sub-standard development works.

In a press statement on Sunday, the councillors — Amir Bakhsh Hajano and others — alleged that money was being spent on already developed areas and sanitation contracts were being awarded to the employees of the Taluka Council.

They said this faulty exercise had inflicted heavy financial losses on the Larkana city council, which was already surviving under huge liabilities. They said that the municipal dumpers were used for private contracts while sub-standard dewatering pumps were being purchased, four of which had gone faulty within four hours of being used.

They further alleged that the Taluka Nazim had nothing to do with the people of Larkana for he was only concentrating on specific localities while totally ignoring the Katchi Abadis.

They said that the chairman of the sanitation sub-committee, Nisar Shaikh, allowed the contractor to flee as he had not fulfilled his demands.
