HYDERABAD, Aug 18: The Sindh High Court, Hyderabad circuit bench, has issued notices to the SHO, Shaheed Fazil Rahu police station, the Additional AG Sindh, and a private person for Sept 2 on a constitutional petition filed by a Hari, Ranomal, alleging police harassment.

The petitioner claimed that he possessed 24 acres of agricultural land since 1958 in Deh Marojat, Golarchi Taluka, Badin District.

He said that a mafia of land grabbers and some influential people wanted to get hold of some valuable private lands and wanted to get them vacated with ulterior motives through harassment.

He said that his father had given 10 acres out of 24 acres to Tasneem Raza Arain, a respondent, for five years on Muqata lease in 1997 and that period was about to be completed.

He further said that the respondent had threatened his father of dispossessing them from the land.

The petitioner told the court that the respondent along with six other unidentified people attacked the village of the petitioner on July 20 threatening him of dire consequences if he did not leave the village. He said his FIR was not lodged.

He prayed the court to direct the SHO to lodge his case against the accused and his accomplices and that the police officials should be directed not to harass him and his family.

The matter has been fixed for hearing on Sept 2.
