HYDERABAD, Aug 18: At least 60 candidates, including activists of the PPP and the Muttahida Quami Movement, have obtained nomination forms from different returning officers of Hyderabad for six National Assembly and 12 Sindh Assembly seats of the district.
From Monday (i.e. today), the candidates will start filing their candidatures.
The candidates have found the filling of forms to be an arduous task.
The candidates will have to go through a cumbersome process to fill the nomination forms which were obtained at the prescribed fee of Rs100.
“Without consulting a senior lawyer, it would not be possible to fill the forms without making an error,” commented a candidate who is aspiring to contest the general elections from the Tando Allahyar Taluka.
The forms were even obtained on Sunday, which was a holiday.
While the parties have not decided their final candidates for the forthcoming general elections, the other party activists have obtained forms on their behalf.
In a number of cases two forms were obtained — one for a seat of the national and one for a seat of the provincial assembly.
Thirteen people obtained forms from First Additional District & Sessions Judge Abdul Kabeer Leghari, the Returning Officer for NA-218 (Hyderabad-I) and PS 43 and 44. They included Noor Mohammad, Mohammad Ali, Mohammad Arib Kaka, Amjad Ali Memon, Ziauddin, Hyder Ali Shah, Ms Shagfuta Jumani, Shahjehan Shah, Mohammad Younus, Akhund Abdul Lateef Siddiqui, Mohammad Naeem Shah, Mohammad Mastoi, and Syed Ameer Ali Shah.
Four aspirants — Munawar Ali Shah, Ghulam Dastageer Chishti, Aslam Pervez, and Shakeel Zai — of the MQM secured forms for NA-219 (Hyderabad-II) and PS 48 and 49 from RO Qazi Allah Bux, the Sixth Additional District & Sessions Judge.
Seven forms were obtained from RO of NA-220 (Hyderabad-III) and PS 45 and 46, Amjad Ali Bohyo, Senior Civil Judge. Those who secured forms included Raheem Bux Soomro, Aslam Pervez, Ghulam Shabbir Shah, Shakeel Ahmed Zai, Abdul Saleem Khan Rajput, Ahsan Ahmed Qureshi, and Shafiquddin.
Sixteen people obtained forms from Third Additional District & Sessions Judge Mohammad Aslam Sheikh, the RO for NA-221 (Hyderabad-IV) and PS 47 and 50. They included Shamsuddin, Zahid Chohan, Abdul Ghaffar Mashoori, Abdul Shakoor, Zulfiqar Qazi, Ms Shagufta Jumani (PPP), Paryal Bughio, Mansoor Soomro, Mehboob Sangi, Dilbar, Azam Khan, Shakeel Ahmed Zai, Aslam Pervez (MQM), Ghulam Shabbir Chishti, and Ghulam Rasool Shah Fazlani.
For NA-222 (Hyderabad-V) and PS 53 and 54 eight likely aspirants obtained forms from the court of the returning officer, Abdul Rehman Bhatti, the Fifth Additional District & Sessions Judge. They included Mohammad Nawaz Chandio, Syed Zulfiqar Shah, Abdul Kareem Baloch, Mohsin Shah Bukhari, Aijaz Hussain Shah, Wali Mohammad Jumari, and Khalid Saeed Jan Sarhandi.
Thirteen aspirants have secured forms for NA-223 (Hyderabad-VI) and PS-53 and 54 from Returning Officer Syed Qurban Ali Shah Lakhyari, the Seventh Additional District & Sessions Judge. They included Dr Irfan Gul Magsi, Dr Raheela Magsi, Ms Adeeba, Rizwan Magsi, Shamshad Begum Bachani (PPP), Mansoor-un-Nabi Bachano, Huma Abbas Talpur, Shahjehan Begum, Aftab Khanzada (PPP), Syed Ali Nawaz Shah (PPP), Haji Khalid Dino Halepoto, Syed Zia Abbas Shah, and Mohammad Asif Arain.
