LOS ANGELES, Aug 17: The University of Southern California (USC) Pakistani Students Association and South Indian American Media (IAM) have joined forces to present Pakistan’s independent filmmaker Hasan Zaidi’s feature film Raat Chali Hai Jhoom Ke (The Long Night) at the USC on Friday (Aug 23).

The first Pakistani digitally shot feature film has been described as a serious social commentary and worth viewing by the Commonwealth Film Festival.

It will be screened at the Lucas Instructional Building, Room 108. Set in the city of Karachi, The Long Night is about a Pakistani yuppie, named Waleed (played by Faisal Rehman), whose software firm is about to sign a lucrative contract with a major US software firm. At the same time, he has been carrying on a phone affair with a woman he has never seen but whose coyness and charm fascinates and intrigues him.

The Long Night was written by Mohammad Hanif and directed and produced by Hasan Zaidi, two award-winning journalists who worked for many years for rival publications Newsline and Herald.
