HYDERABAD, Nov 7: The vice chancellor of Sindh University has called upon the scholars to highlight the life, works, achievement and the services of the great people, who had devoted their lives for some noble cause and in the service of humanity.

He was presiding over a Ph.D seminar on the topic of “critical appraisal of use of simile and metaphor in the verses of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai” here on Wednesday.

The Ph.D scholar, Ms. Ume Kulsoom Shah, presented her thesis in the final seminar for her Ph.D degree.

In his presidential remarks Vice Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui said that the need of the hour was that each and every member of society, especially scholars, should make concerted efforts individually and collectively for the development of the country and progress of the nation.

He pointed out that scholars in particular were reformers and it was their duty to motivate and guide the people on the right path through their writings.

He congratulated the Ph.D scholar for conducting detailed research on the great Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.

In her presentation, Ms. Ume Kulsoom Shah said that she had completed her thesis in three years and added that she had gone through many a book of earlier scholars and visited many a library in Hyderabad, Nawabshah, Sindh University and other libraries throughout the country.

She said her research work was spread over 974 pages in which she has also included the poets of that particular period as well as the poets before Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.

She said Shah Saheb was the follower of Hazrat Jalaluddin Romi and he always carried “Masnavi Romi” with him.

Speaking on the occasion, the dean, faculty of arts, Dr. Kazi Khadim Hussain, lauded the efforts of Ms. Ume Kulsoom and said that her research was an authentic work on the great poet.
