KARACHI, Aug 16: Pakistan Telecommunications Ltd (PTCL) has established one more international gateway exchange in the Pak Capital exchange in view of the growing number of international calls.

Equipped with modern Chinese technology, this International exchange has started working on an experimental basis.

It is in addition to the international exchange which is functioning at Marston Road, and was inaugurated by DG International Communication, Mahboob Ali.

In view of the increase in the number of international calls, the need for another international exchange was felt, as one exchange was proving insufficient to meet demand.

The installation of the new exchange will redress customer complaints about engaged international circuits and the late connection of calls. Now, with one dial, customers can get the desired number.

PTCL said that the establishment of this exchange will particularly benefit the subscribers in Sindh and Balochistan, and will enable an easy flow of international traffic.

REDUCTION OF TARIFFS: The PTCL has also announced a reduction in the charges for incoming and outgoing calls for ships as part of the steps being taken to provide maximum facilities to its customers.

According to a PTCL announcement here, the new charges have come into effect as of August 14.

Earlier, the charges for incoming and outgoing calls used to be recovered at 6 Gold Franks per minute, which have now been reduced to 2.25 Gold Franks per minute.

The PTCL has said that this decision will greatly benefit people working on board ships, as well as their relatives.—APP
