KARACHI, Aug 15: As many as 27,000 brochures containing the forms for admissions to first year classes in city colleges have been sold so far. This was stated by the District Officer, Education (Colleges), Dr M.M.A. Feeroze on Thursday.

The admission forms are available at 34 designated branches of Habib Bank in different parts of the city up till Aug 23, and the completed forms should be submitted back to the same branch during this period.

Feeroze made it clear that all admissions will be granted purely on the basis of merit. The admission policy for this academic session remains the same as that of last year.

However, those candidates with a gap in their academic career may also apply, but five marks for each gap year will be deducted, it was pointed out.

Feeroze maintained that all the applicants will be accommodated in first year classes in educational institutions of the city.

In the admission forms, as many as eight options for the institutions have been made available to the candidates.

However, Feeroze urged candidates that while utilizing such options, they should keep in mind the range of marks, and for their convenience, the marks on which the admissions were closed in these institutions last year have been mentioned in the brochure as well. The brochure is available for Rs 50.

He pointed out that 24 guidance centres — 11 for females and 13 for male candidates — have been set up in different parts of the city, where senior teachers would be present to help candidates fill in the forms in a proper manner.

Classes for new entrants are expected to commence in the last week of September.—APP
