BADIN, Aug 11: Around 100 councillors observed a six-hour hunger strike against Nazims of district, taluka and union councils of Badin near Shah Nawaz Chowk here on Sunday.
The councillors, including women, observed the token hunger for the fourth consecutive day on the call of the Councillors Ittehad, Badin district, against the alleged partisan attitude of the Nazims in the allocation of development schemes.
Those who observed hunger strike included Azhar Abbasi, Amanullah Korai, Hashim Soomro, Shabana Memon, Fatima Maindhro Mohammad Ismail Khaskheli, Hanif Khaskheli and Hussain Ansari.
Taking to newsmen, the protesters alleged the Nazims of favouritism regarding the allocation of development schemes.
Several citizens, social workers and representatives of NGOs visited the hunger strike camp and assured the councillors of moral support.
