KARACHI, Aug 11: Reckless driving claimed two lives in the city on Sunday.

A teenage boy died in a road accident on ICI bridge in West Wharf in the morning. Police said cyclist Mohammed Asif, aged 14, was run over by a 14- wheeler trailer (JT-3496) on ICI Bridge. He died on the spot. He was resident of Ali Mohammed Mohallah in Jackson police limits.

The body was sent to Civil Hospital for post-mortem.

Police claimed to have arrested the trailer driver, Imtiaz Ali, and impounded the vehicle.

A young man died in a hit-and-run accident in Soldier Bazaar on late Saturday night.

Police said Hasan Liaquat, aged 35, was knocked down by a speeding truck near Husaini blood bank. He was rushed to Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival.

KILLED: A young woman was found murdered in Jamshed Quarters on Sunday.

Police said the body of a young woman, who was in her early 20s, was found in a street in Jehangir Road No 1. The body had torture marks and there were signs of strangulation also.

Hospital sources said the woman was raped and she was also subjected to severe torture. The woman had not been identified till our going to press.

After post-mortem, the body has been kept in the Edhi’s morgue for identification.

A young man was shot dead in Kalakot in the evening.

Police said Shaukat, aged 24, was shot by unidentified assailants in Street No 12, Nawa Lane, Kalakot. The young man was a drug addict and he had gone out of his home to buy drug when unidentified the assailants opened fire on him.

A single bullet struck his left eye and pierced through his brain killing him on the spot, police said.

Police described personal enmity or drug business rivalry as a possible motive for the killing.

A watchman was killed in New Karachi Industrial Area on late Saturday night.

Police said Gul Wazir Khan, aged 35, a chowkidar at a multinational pharmaceutical company, was slaughtered on Saturday night.

The assailants escaped in a company’s vehicle (KG-0724) after killing the watchman.

Police said Khan, father of three, lived in People’s Colony. He hailed from Kohat.

The body was sent to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for autopsy.

CARJACKING: Twelve vehicles — five cars and seven motorcycles — were either hijacked or stolen in the city on Sunday, police said.

Two cars were hijacked. Three others were stolen.

One motorcycle was hijacked. Six others were stolen.

Police also claimed on Sunday to have recovered five cars and one motorcycle.

DIES: An unidentified bandit who had been injured in an exchange of fire between security guards and bandits in the limits of Nabi Bux police on Saturday died in Civil Hospital on Sunday. He was admitted to the hospital in serious condition with a bullet injury to his head.
