Arundhati to speak at seminars

LAHORE, Aug 10: A series of seminars in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi on the subject of Peace and Freedom in South Asia is being organized by The Daily Times, a Lahore-based newspaper. Noted Indian social activist and award winning author of The God of Small Things, Arundhati Roy, will be the keynote speaker.

The seminars will be held on Aug 14 in Islamabad, Aug 15 in Lahore and Aug 18 in Karachi. Among the other renowned speakers from India are Shekhar Gupta, editor-in-chief of The Indian Express and N. Ram, editor of Frontline. The Pakistani side will be represented by former foreign ministers Sartaj Aziz and Assef Ahmad Ali and former foreign secretary Sheharyar Khan, along with Lt-Gen Naseer Akhtar (retired), chairman of the India- Pakistan Peace Dialogue, Hameed Haroon, president of All Pakistan Newspapers Society, and Najam Sethi, editor of Daily Times.
