NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Aug 10: The sanitation workers of Naushahro Feroze continued their strike for the sixth consecutive day here on Saturday.

Led by Baldia Workers Federation president Kishan Raja, the protesters also observed a token hunger strike opposite the local press club.

Raja told newsmen that Sukkur District Nazim Syed Nasir Ali Shah and Khairpur District Nazim Nafisa Shah had provided some funds to their taluka councils as a loan for payment of salary to sanitary workers.

The loan will be returned by the taluka councils on receiving funds from the Sindh government.

Raja regretted the district government was not paying attention to their genuine problems.

DC SESSION: The Awam Dost Panel (ADP) members of the district council did not attend the council’s session for the third consecutive day here on Saturday.

Talking to newsmen, a member of the district council and Phull Union Council Nazim said the ADP members were disappointed due to the attitude of the ruling group of the council.

He complained no member of the ADP was given due share in development schemes while schemes approved for the areas of ADP Nazims, were either left incomplete or not started.

On Friday the attendance of union council Nazims and members of the district council remained very thin at the meeting as out of 74 members only 27 members attended the session.

No matter of public interest was discussed except the programme of Aug 14.

CLASH: Five persons, including two women, were injured in a clash over a plot in Hussain Kalhoro village, Bhirya taluka on Friday.

The families of four brothers, Arshad Kalhoro, Ghulam Nabi, Mukhtiar and Mubarak, clashed over the possession of a plot as a result Arshad, Ghulam Nabi, Ishaque, Shabana and Razia were injured.

ASSAULTED: Fifteen-year-old girl (S) was criminally assaulted in Railway Colony, Padidan, on Friday night.

A neighbour, Ejaz, called the girl, who was passing in front of his quarter, and assaulted her.

The Padidan police lodged an FIR and arrested Ejaz.
