LAHORE, Aug 8: Two goals by Asif Pervez helped Amanat Ali Bukhari Club to cruise into the semifinal of the Lahore city Independence Day hockey championship, defeating Ideal Club 2-1 at the Punjab University Old Campus ground Thursday.
Shaheen Club walloped Ittehad Club 3-0 in another quarterfinals to also make the last four.
Asif struck his first goal in the 5th minute. But Ideal Club had restored the parity in the 29th minute through Mohammad Fayyaz.
Asif scored his second goal in 50th minute which proved as decider.
Shaheen Club earned a facile victory after leading the first half 2-0 against Ittehad Club.
Hafeezullah gave them an early lead when he struck a field goal in the 15th minute.
Mohammad Abbas doubled the lead by in the 25th minute to make the score 2-0 which remained in order till the half time.
After the resumption, Shaheen Club maintained their attacking game and scored their third goal through Rashid Minhas in the 45th minute. They tried to further extend the lead but failed to do so due to a number of missing.
