HYDERABAD, Aug 7: The Vice Chancellor, University of Sindh, Mr Mazharul Haq Siddiqui, has urged the teachers to motivate the students to participate in healthy activities at the campus.

He was speaking at the inauguration of the monsoon tree plantation campaign, organised by the Sindh University, provost office, in collaboration with the plantation section, at the boys hostels, on Wednesday.

The vice chancellor said the trees were natural bulwark against the environmental pollution. He said that for the encouragement of the students the prizes for the best plantation would be given and added that a panel of judges will be appointed in this regard. He said the hostel management should organise competition among the students and motivate them to attend socio-cultural events.

The Vice Chancellor also visited various hostels and inspected the arrangements and sanitation.

He directed the hostel management to establish a shopping centre for the students in front of hostels and added that a proposal in this regard should be moved by the provost office.

Prof Ferozuddin Kazi, the registrar, Prof Bashir Ahmed Channar, the provost of hostels, the deans of various faculties, the directors of the institutes and the chairpersons of the departments, the section-heads of the administrative department of the university attended the ceremony.

ADMISSION: The director admissions, university of Sindh, has announced here on Wednesday, the schedule for the admissions for on roll students in the next classes, in various disciplines of the university.

The admission forms will be available from August 15, at the Habib Bank Limited, Jamshoro, on payment of Rs.25 for admission in B.A Part-II, Fine Arts, B.A, B.Sc, B.Com, BBA, BPA, B.S (IT), BCS, B.Software Engineering (Hons) part-II, Part-III, Part-IV, 2nd, 3rd and final professional B.Pharmacy, M.A, M.Sc, M.Com, MBA, MPA, MS (IT), MCS (Hons & Pass) final and MLIC classes for the academic year of 2002.

The last date for the submission of forms has been fixed as September 5, 2002.

He has further announced that if any student failed to deposit the fees within the due date, his/her name would be struck off from the university roll and in case the student lived in hostel , the defaulter would have to vacate the hostel room.

DATE EXTENDED: The director, graduates studies, university of Sindh, announced here on Wednesday that the last date for submission of the application forms for the M.Phil study programme, had been extended up to August 20, while the pre-admission test would be conducted on August, 24, at 10:30 am in the respective institute/department.

DIRECTORS, CHAIRPERSONS: The Sindh University appointed directors of the various institutes and chairpersons of the different departments, for a period of three years, with effect from Aug 3.

The university has appointed Prof Dr Mohammad Yar Khuhawar, the director, Dr M.A Kazi, director, Institute of Chemistry, Prof Dr Mohammad Saleh Memon, director, Institute of Pharmacy, Prof Dr Ubedullah M.
