KARACHI, Aug 7: The district and sessions judge, West, Akhtar A Chaudhry, acquitted on Wednesday three men in a robbery case.
Naeem Ahmed, Vakil Ahmed and Sohail Tanveer were prosecuted for committing robbery on March 3, 1996 at the house of Khurshid in Orangi Town.
The judge, however, exonerated the three from charges as the prosecution could not prove its case against them.
Meanwhile, the special court for offences in banks, headed by Judge Ikram Hussain Jafferi, remanded a former manager and an officer of the National Bank to the custody of the Federal Investigation Agency for investigation into a bank fraud case.
Mashallah Khan and Yousuf Uddin were arrested on Tuesday by an FIA investigator, Khalid Jamil, for their involvement in the misappropriation of Rs935,000 from the account of Shahida Bano.
The woman had moved an application to the deputy director of the FIA’s Commercial Banks Circle, stating that the bank officials withdrew money from her account on forged cheques.
