PML-QA rigged polls, says Ejaz

LAHORE, Aug 5: There is no possibility of my return to the PML-QA fold and I will announce a new party on the ninth of this month, rebel PML-QAA Ejazul Haq said on Monday.

While speaking to reporters at a seminar on Monday, Mr Haq also denied having struck a deal with the government. The parting of ways with the PML-QA leadership was purely because of differences on principles, rather than any deal with any one.

“I believe that the present PML-QA leadership has failed to deliver and has no right to lead the party anymore,” he claimed.

“I have taken my case to the chief election commissioner. The CEC has been informed about the rigging in party elections and now it is up to the CEC to decide.”

“My complaint to the CEC has in fact created a dilemma for this august office. If it cannot ensure fairness in party polls, how can it conduct free and fair polls in the country,” he asked.

Mr Ejaz said it was his mission to bring all factions of the PML on one platform and claimed to have met Pir Pagara and earned his blessings.

“I have left what is known to be a king’s party poised to form a government only because of policy differences. Had I compromised on principles, I could have got any post in the party,” Mr Ejaz claimed.

The PML-QA had rigged polls and it would be taken to task. “I have not applied for a stay order against the election yet only to avoid blames of sabotage. But, I will make sure that everything that happened on the election day is exposed. If the PML-QA does not have courage to face elections in the party, how will it do the same on national level,” Mr Ejaz said.

PML-QA leader Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri, who was also present on the occasion, denied Ejazul Haq’s claims of rigging. To avoid these charges, the party formed a very authentic election commission consisting of one judge of the high court, one former speaker and Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain. He had reposed his confidence in Mr Shujaat a day before the elections. Now these charges of rigging were unfair.

He wanted voting according to the list that was prepared during the Nawaz period. That was not possible. —Staff Reporter
