Five new records bettered

LAHORE, Aug 2: Five new national records were created by Wapda and Customs on the opening day of the two-day Independence Day national bench press championship Thursday.

Wapda were leading with 52 points followed by Punjab which bagged 36 points and Customs (17) in third spot.

Wapda’s Sheraz Butt (60 kgs), Adeel Rana (67.5 kgs) and Waseem Shah 75 kgs created new national records. Ismaeel Ansari (52 kgs) and Sultan Baloch (Punjab) (82.5 kgs) of Customs also set new records.

THURSDAY’S RESULTS: 52 kgs: 1. Ismaeel Ansari (Customs) 100 kgs, M. Zeeshan (Punjab), Ilyas Rathore (Wapda). 56 kgs: M. Fayyaz (Wapda) 90 kgs, M. Arif (Punjab). 60 kgs: Sheraz Butt (Wapda) 132.5, Sajid Ali (Army) 102.5, M. Nawaz (Customs) 100 kgs. 67.5 kgs: Adeel Rana (Wapda), 150, Faisal Ali  Butt (Islamabad), Suleman Akram (Punjab). 75 kgs: Waseem Shah (Wapda) 145, Athar Ali (Punjab), Hafiz Adeel (Customs). 82.5 kgs: Sultan Baloch (Punjab) 155, Laeeq Ahmed (Wapda), Haroon bin Rasheed (Police).
