GUJRAT, Aug 1: The Punjab medico legal surgeon was issued a show-cause notice to vacate an official residence which was given to him during his posting as Gujrat DHO in 1997 to 1999, Dawn learnt here on Thursday.
Sources said that former DHO Dr Aslam Chaudhry, who now holds the charge of Punjab medico legal surgeon, had been transferred on Oct 10, 1999, but he still possessed the official residence of the DHO.
According to rules and regulations, an official could possess the residence only for three months after his transfer, they said. And after the passage of 90 days, if anyone did not vacate the official residence, 60 per cent amount would be deducted from the salary every month, they claimed.
The EDO (Health) asked Dr Chaudhry to vacate the residence because another doctor wanted to occupy it, they added.
However, a source quoted EDO (Health) Syed Abdi Shah as saying that the letter had been issued by DHO Dr Sami who was given the additional charge for two days.
