SUKKUR, July 30: An oil train, going from Pipri to Abdul Hakeem (Punjab), derailed between Sadiqabad and Rahimyar Khan railway stations on Monday night.
The derailment took place near a small bridge between Sadiqabad and Rahimyar Khan after the axle of one of the front bogies broke down.
Sources said that 16 bogies of the train derailed and oil spilled on the two sides of the track. Thirteen signal poles were also badly damaged due to the accident.
The railway authorities of Sukkur and Multan stopped rail traffic at Rahimyar Khan and Rohri stations and rescue and relief trains were sent to remove the damaged bogies from the tracks. The down track was cleared at 10am on Tuesday and the passenger trains were allowed to resume their journey through the section.—APP
