COLOMBO, July 30: Sri Lanka’s cricket board cautioned Muttiah Muralitharan Tuesday over comments the off-spinner made criticising the way the sport was being run.

Muralitharan criticised the national selection committee and the cricket board on a local television programme after returning from Sri Lanka’s disappointing tour of England earlier this month.

The cricket board said in a statement that it had “cautioned and advised him (Muralitharan) to refrain from making such comments, and informed him that disciplinary action will be taken against him if he acted in this manner in the future”.—Reuters
