PESHAWAR, July 30: The city police have arrested three hardened criminals and netted 20 proclaimed offenders and seized a large quantity of weapons in two operations in the suburb of the city on Tuesday.

In the first operation arrested Himat Khan and PO Shaukat, son of Lal Mohammad.

The police said that both the accused were wanted in murder and attempt murder cases. The police also seized a Kalashnikov, a pistol and four bullet magazines from their possession.

In another operation in Azakhel area in the jurisdiction of Matani Police Station, the city police arrested Mumeez Khan, son of Khitab.

The police also recovered a Kalashnikov, two hand grenades and two bullet magazines from his possession.

During the operations, 20 other POs were arrested and illicit arms recovered from their possession including 14 Kalashnikovs, 27 rifles, 19 shotguns, 18 pistols and a large quantity of cartridges of different calibres.

The police also held 30 other accused on various charges in and around the city during the night operations.
