QUETTA, July 29: The Balochistan government has decided to set up an industrial area in Bostan with all necessary facilities including water, gas and electricity.
Decision in this regard was taken at a meeting chaired by Provincial Governor Justice (Retd) Amirul Mulk Mengal, here on Monday. The meeting reviewed the matters relating to the establishing more industries and investment opportunities in the Province.
The meeting was informed that Quetta industrial estate was facing acute water shortage, which was creating problems for the industrialists in running their industrial units. In view of this problem it was decided that a new industrial estate should be set up in Bostan some 50 km north of Quetta.
The secretary, industries and labour informed the meeting that 30 industrial units have been set up in Quetta industrial estate so far and out of that 22 units were functioning while eight industrial units have been closed down due to various reasons. However, 29 more industrial units were under construction in Quetta industrial area.
Referring to Winder industrial area, he said that only 3 units were working while in Winder Industrial Estate so far 17 industrial units were set up and out of them only 10 were operational while 7 others have been closed. The meeting decided to provide more facilities in the Winder Industrial Estate including gas and in this connection federal government and investment Board would be approached.
The meeting also discussed problems being faced by Dera Murad Jamali and Gaddani Industrial Estates and decided to take all necessary steps for resolving the difficulties. The meeting was informed that during two and half year time 20 sick industrial units were re-commissioned in Hub Industrial Estate.
Shrimps forming in the coastal areas of Balochistan was also reviewed in the meeting and decided to carry out a survey in the coastal area for identifying the areas where shrimps forming could be run profitably.
The Provincial Governor Justice (Retd) Amirul Mulk Mengal urged the private sector to come forward and invest in establishing different industries in Balochistan. He assured that his government would provide all facilities and cooperation in this regard.
