ISLAMABAD, July 27: An ISPR spokesman has denied a news report appearing in a section of press claiming that General Headquarters had advised the Indus River System Authority to impose cuts on the supply of irrigation water to the provinces with a view to replenishing Tarbela Dam.

Terming it baseless and concocted, the spokesman clarified that the GHQ had not issued any instructions to Irsa. The spokesman said such false reports about the armed forces seemed to be a part of a deliberate campaign to discredit the forces in the eyes of the public.
