KARACHI: Harkat activists remanded

KARACHI, July 23: Justice Shabbir Ahmed of the Sindh High Court, who is also the administrative judge of the anti-terrorism courts at Karachi, remanded on Tuesday two activists of the Harkatul Mujahideen Al Almi in jail custody till July 27, in two different cases of bomb explosion in the city.

Accused Mohammed Imran and Mohammed Hanif were allegedly involved in a bomb blast at Marina Club on Jan 1 this year in which 10 people were injured. The accused parked a Suzuki car in the parking lot of the Club after filling its secret chambers with explosives. They blew up the car at 12.40am.

The accused were also allegedly involved in a bomb blast at a McDonald restaurant in the police limits of Darkhshan on November 11, 2001.

According to police, they were arrested on July 8 this year and booked under different sections of the Explosive Act, PPC and the Anti-terrorism Act of 1997 in two FIRs lodged at Gizri police station and at Darkhshan police station. — PPI
