ISLAMABAD, July 19: Federal Ad-hoc Public Accounts Committee (PAC) has asked Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) to submit a report about 26 references concerning corruption in various projects of the organization, already referred to the National Accountability Bureau.
According to sources in PAC Secretariat, the cases were about millions of rupees corruption in a number of projects, including purchase of land for OPF housing societies and Kaghan Bricks.
During the PAC meeting, the committee was informed about these references by the overseas ministry, represented by the secretary as principal accounting officer.
The officials, allegedly found involved in mismanagement and financial malpractice, are former managing director Shahid Nawaz, general manager Qazi Mubashar Hussain, manager Ijazat Din, senior sales assistant Mohammad Riaz, in charge administration Mohammad Shari, Mohammad Arif, Patwari Mohammad Akram, M.S.Jaffery, Farooq Aazam and Anwar Shouq.
The committee directed the principal accounting officer to introduce computerization in all attached departments of the ministry and check financial position of the subordinate organizations, including Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) and OPF. — APP
