KARACHI, July 19: Localized power faults continued to cause power shutdowns on Friday as residents calling from Gulistan-i- Jauher, Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Federal B Area and PECHS told Dawn their localities had been without electricity for more than three hours.
A resident of PECHS, Block 6, told Dawn his area had faced three power closures, each lasting at least an hour. He added that he had contacted the 118 three times and he had been given an identical reply — that it had been a localized fault.
A resident of Bahadurbad told Dawn his apartment had developed a different fault. “Some flats in my apartment have electricity while some are without it,” he said.
When contacted, a KESC official said that apparently it was a case of a fault in internal wiring. But, he added, only after inspecting the apartment that the KESC staff would be in a position to say what is wrong with the system.
A resident of Gulshan-i-Iqbal, Block 5, told Dawn his locality had faced power shutdowns at least three times.
A resident of North Nazimabad, Block A, told Dawn that his locality had been without power twice — first from 6am to 7.30am and second from 9am to 12 noon.
“We experience a power shutdown every day. If it is loadshedding, then we should be told about it,” he said.
Calling from C.P. Berar Society, a resident told Dawn his locality had been without electricity since 6pm.
