NOWSHERA: Transporters strike

NOWSHERA, July 16: Transporters on Monday started a two-day strike against a 300 per cent increase in the toll tax on the Kabul River bridge.

They parked their vehicles along the Nowshera-Mardan Road to protest against what they termed an unfair increase.

Local transporters also joined the strike because the contractor was allegedly forcing them as well to pay the tax. Passengers faced difficulties because of unavailability of the transport. The strikers warned that if the tax increase was not withdrawn, they would block the road.
