KARACHI: Rehabilitation centre opens

KARACHI, July 16: Sindh Minister for Health Ahsan Ahmed said here on Monday that the biggest hurdle in addiction treatment is that it is not recognised as a disease.

Speaking at the inauguration of the AAS Rehabilitation Centre in Malir on Monday, he said that the AAS had been serving the humanity, and the government would continue to encourage such NGOs.

Allama Abdul Rehman in his welcome address briefed the minister about the purpose and objectives of the rehabilitation centre.

Dr. Amer Hafeez, Nazim Malir Town Azam Ali also spoke.

Patients, their families, recovering addicts, Aga Khan Social Welfare Board and people of the area, attended the occasion.

At the end, the minister inaugurated the new premises of AAS and discussed different matters with patients and their families.—APP
