LAHORE, July 13: The city government’s town planning magistrate has recovered during the past three months Rs9 million pending on account of commercialization of residential properties.

The magistrate also imposed fines totalling Rs137,750 on owners of 100 buildings for unauthorized commercialisation and construction without the approval of site plans.

Of the 197 cases of unauthorized commercialization and construction without approval of site plans, 100 were disposed of, 37 are being heard and 11 have been contested. Hearing of 14 cases is suspended pending the disposal of stay orders issued by various courts and another 14 because of wrong addresses supplied by the building inspectors.
