HYDERABAD, July 13: A group of people of the scheduled caste Kolhi of Tando Mohammad Khan staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Saturday against the inordinate delay in the arrest of the murderers of Preetam Kabari.
The mother of the deceased, Marwah, wife Dharma, brother Parkash, and his children led the demonstration.
The protesters told newsmen that Preetam Kabari was killed two months back and an FIR was registered at the Bulri Shah Karim police station.
They alleged that the police arrested the accused, Shaukat, Haji Naro, Ishaq, Sobia and Younus, but released them after taking money from them.
They raised slogans against the police and demanded the arrest of the murderers.
On the assurance of DSP Razzaq Arain, who held talks with the bereaved family, that justice would be restored, the protesters dispersed peacefully.
TRADERS’ DEMO: The Anjuman Tajran Pinjra Poll staged a protest demonstration against the Hyderabad city taluka administration for the inordinate delay in repair-ing the bridge over a dirty Nullah.
Talking to newsmen, the traders said the municipal administration of the city taluka had demolished the bridge to clean the Nullah but the same had not been repaired as yet.
They said the people were facing inconvenience to cross the Nullah which was overflowing, adding that during the rainy season, the situation would become even more worse.
They demanded that the dirty Nullah should be desilted and the bridge should be reconstructed.
DEMO: The residents of Katcha Qila and Shah Faisal Colony under the banner of the Markaz-e-Awami Yakhjehti Council held a protest demonstration outside the local press club on Friday against Abdus Salam (engineer), Mr Rafique (line superintendent), and Mr Munir (sanitary inspector).
Addressing the rally, Mohammed Ayub Rajput accused these officials of depriving the people of Katcha Qila and Shah Faisal Colony of basic facilities.
He said that the protest demonstration was neither against the government nor against the Cantonment Board but against these three officials who had forced the people to come out on the roads.
He demanded that these inefficient officials should be replaced with some responsible and conscientious officials who could provide basic facilities to the people.
He warned that if no notice was taken of the protest demonstration, the next demonstration would be held outside the Sindh Secretariat.
The others who addressed the rally included Aftab Mughal, Abdur Razzak Malik, and Baqar Hussain Jafri.
