Arch-rivals meet in Champions Trophy

LAHORE, July 12: Arch-rivals Pakistan and India are set to meet in the hockey field when they play on Sept 4 in Champions Trophy in Cologne, Germany from Aug 31 to Sept 8.

It will be first meeting between the two neighbours since after the Prime Minister’s Gold Cup final in Dhaka last year in March where Pakistan lost to India on penalty shootout.

But before the game against the traditional rivals, Pakistan take on the defending champions Germany on Aug 31 in the opener.

Top six teams of the world Germany, The Netherlands, Australia, Pakistan, South Korea and India will be competing for the Trophy.

Aug  31: Pakistan v Germany; India v The Netherlands; Australia v South Korea

Sept 1: India v Germany; Pakistan v South Korea; The Netherlands v Australia

Sept 2: Rest Day

Sept 3: Australia v India; Pakistan v The Netherlands

Sept 4: Germany v South Korea; Pakistan v India

Sept 5: Australia v Germany; South Korea v The Netherlands

Sept  6: Pakistan v Australia; The Netherlands v Germany;   South Korea v India

Sept 7: Rest Day.

Sept 8: Match for the 5th and 6th places; match for the 3rd and 4th places; Final.
