MULTAN, July 8: Multan Cricket Association is one of the few cricket bodies in the country emulating successfully the English league system with a 32-club strong structure.
Professor Javed Malik, the secretary MCA said that league system was strong in Karachi where contests were held regularly among seven zones adding Multan was also moving ahead in the same direction.
Announcing the schedule for league cricket championships at grade one and grade two levels, he said, eight clubs had qualified to participate in the grade one league championship starting from Aug 15, 2002 after their performance in the recently concluded Multan District League Championship.
The rest of 24 teams, which had failed to qualify for the grade one, would participate in the grade two league cricket championship to start from October, 2002.
Prior to the championships, he added, a six-week long training camp would be organized from 20th of July for U-19 cricketers.—APP
