LONDON, July 7: Kashmiris and Pakistanis held a demonstration in front of the Indian High Commission in Copenhagen on Saturday to condemn Indian oppression in the occupied Kashmir and urged the European countries to help resolve the Kashmir issue.
The demonstration, organized by opposition leader in the Azad Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Barrister Sultan Mehmood, began from Copenhagen railway station and culminated in front of the Indian High Commission.
The demonstrators chanted slogans “Stop violence in occupied Kashmir”, “Down with India” and “Pakistan Zindabad”, Barrister Sultan told APP on telephone from Copenhagen.
The former AJK prime minister left on Saturday for Oslo where he would lead another demonstration in front of the Indian High Commission to invite the international community’s attention towards massive human rights abuses in held Kashmir.
He is visiting various European capitals to elicit support for a peaceful solution to the Kashmir imbroglio.
He said the current standoff between Pakistan and India over Kashmir could result in a nuclear holocaust.
Kashmiris, he said, had sacrificed over 80,000 people and would not rest in peace until they brought to an end the illegal Indian occupation of their land.
He said the Kashmiris had launched their indigenous struggle in the Indian occupied Kashmir in 1989 to win right to decide their future destiny under the United Nations resolutions.—APP
